Where To Find The Cheapest Gas In Manchester

If you are hitting the road for the Christmas weekend (or for Hanukkah, which begins Saturday night as well), filling up the gas tank before you leave Manchester could be a little more pricey.

Gasoline prices have been on the rise for the last three weeks across the nation, up 14 cents, according to a report by AAA. Prices continue to rise due to market expectations of tighter availability following the announcement of an OPEC deal to cut oil production that is scheduled to start in January 2017.

The average cost of gas in the United States on Friday is $2.27 a gallon, according to AAA. In New Jersey, it's $2.35 as of Friday, AAA reports. That, of course, includes that 23-cent tax increase that went into effect Nov. 1 in the state.

If you're driving out of New Jersey, you'll pay more to fill up in New York or Pennsylvania, both of which are averaging $2.46 per gallon right now. But if you're traveling south, you'll find less expensive gas in Delaware ($2.24), Maryland ($2.29) and Virginia ($2.15) all have lower average gas prices, according to AAA.

South Carolina has the least expensive gas in the nation, at $2.04 per gallon, while Hawaii is the most expensive at $2.97. California is No. 2 on the most expensive list at $2.68.
