Lead Levels In Manville Schools' Water Were Too High: State

MANVILLE, NJ — The Manville Public School District is one of 61 New Jersey districts that had too much lead in their water recently, a new state database shows.

Gov. Phil Murphy announced Thursday that the New Jersey Department of Education has created the centralized database with lead-testing information from school districts.

Rep. Josh Gotteimer, D-Bergen, and Murphy announced a three-pronged approach to strengthening the state's response to lead testing and remediating elevated lead levels in New Jersey schools' drinking water.

The centralized, state-managed database provides water quality information reported by school entities, including whether any samples exceeded the permissible lead action level, the date of the most recent sampling, a link to the full sampling results, and contact information for the school district or other school entity.
