Manville Daughter Has Mom Of The Year

MANVILLE, NJ — Last week we asked you to nominate a mother who you feel should be Manville Patch's Mom Of The Year in honor of Mother's Day.

Daughter Kim MacKie of Manville nominated her mother, "hero, best friend and idol" Lillian Vagi and shared her amazing story.

"There are so many things that make my mom extra special to me. All my life she was always there for me, even when no one else was. Growing up she was strict and we always didn't see eye to eye but she never wanted to see me get hurt. As I got older and had kids of my own I understand exactly where she was coming from. As a teen she would wait up at night until she heard my car pull up. Loving someone isn't always saying it, it's showing it, it's the times you see your mom crying when she thinks you don't see her because you lost your job or you are fighting with your husband. It's the times she shows up at the hospital in the middle of the night because you think you are going in labor. It's also the times when you catch your mom with a smile that speaks a thousand words when she watches your kids (her grand kids) singing in a concert or playing a soccer game or riding their bikes without training wheels."

"My mom means the world to me, she is not only just a mom but my best friend. I feel that she deserves the spotlight not only on Mother's Day but everyday of the year. She never asks for anything or expects anything in return she truly is a genuine good mom, grandma, wife, sister and friend. And if I could give her the spotlight she deserves for just one day as she has made me her spotlight for the past 40 years we would both be truly thankful."
