Manville Schools To See Huge Increase In State Aid For 2020-21

​Gov. Phil Murphy's administration released the proposed state aid numbers for every school district in the 2020-21 school year.

MANVILLE, NJ — Manville Schools can expect to see a huge increase in their state aid for the 2020-21 school year. Manville received the highest increase in aid in the county.

Gov. Phil Murphy's administration released the proposed state aid numbers on Thursday for every school district in the 2020-21 school year.

Manville is expected to see a 18.35 percent increase in state aid. This means the district would receive a total of $12,184,600 or $1,889,178 more in state aid.

"The Manville Public Schools are thankful for the continued efforts by Governor Phil Murphy to fully fund all schools in the State of New Jersey," said Manville Superintendent Robert Beers. "This year's aid is another step towards equity for students in the town of Manville. We will continue to use these funds to continue our investment in the students and employees of the Manville School District while keepy our tax levy flat. Our goal is to continue our pursuit of academic excellence which will in turn raise property values for the entire community. The entire Manville community was a winner with the aid allocations today!"

Somerset County Vocational School is not expected to see an increase or decrease and will receive the same amount of aid as last year.

Hillsborough received the least with a decrease of 3.05 percent. Hillsborough was the only Somerset County school district to get a decrease.

Overall, state aid would increase 3.8 over the 2019-20 school year under a plan that requires approval from the state Legislature. That number would be larger than the 2.43 percent increase Murphy proposed last year.
