Reward Rises To $3,000 For Manville Tire Slasher

The Manville community is fed up after more than 155 cars had their tires slashed in 3 months.

MANVILLE, NJ — The reward money in the Manville tire slasher case has risen to $3,000 thanks to the local community, who are fed up with the reoccurring crime.

The Manville Police P.B.A. (Police Benevolent Association) #236 has provided a reward of up to $2,000 and Crime Stoppers of Somerset County, Inc. has increased the reward money to $1,000, bringing the total reward money to $3,000, for information leading to the arrest of the individual or individuals responsible for the multiple tire slashings that have occurred in Manville.

Even Manville Pizza and restaurant is putting up money to help catch the serial tire slasher.

"As you may of heard by now there has been a serial tire slasher that has struck the North Side of town three times and has damaged more than 150 cars since June, most recent event was just a few nights ago. This has affected hundreds of my hardworking customers and has inflicted unnecessary stress and monetary loss," the pizzeria posted online.

An alleged serial tire slasher has hit Manville for the third time in the past three months totaling about 155 cars hit in three months.

Most recently about 80 more cars (around 130 tires) had tires slashed between midnight and 3 a.m. on Aug. 22 within the northwest section of Manville Borough, specifically the areas of North 3rd Avenue and North 13th Avenue, between Knopf Street and Dukes Parkway, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson.

Previously 35 cars were slashed overnight on Aug. 2 on Green and Bleecher streets between North 13th Avenue and North 9th Avenue, Manville Police Chief Mark Peltack said previously.

On June 11, 40 cars were also targeted in the north side of town where the tires were slashed and one was found burned.

The suspect is described as a white man, wearing a dark-colored hooded jacket, Robertson reported.

Law enforcement has increased patrols and is actively interviewing people and reviewing video footage (seen below) in an effort to identify and arrest the individual(s) responsible for the tire slashings.
