Serial Manville Tire Slasher Strikes Again: 80 Cars, 130 Tires

This is the third time in 3 months that Manville cars have been targeted. To date more than 155 cars have been damaged.

MANVILLE, NJ — An alleged serial tire slasher has hit Manville for the third time in the past three months.

Manville Police sent out an alert Wednesday morning reporting "multiple tire slashings on North Side streets overnight."

About 80 more cars (around 130 tires) had tires slashed between midnight and 3 a.m. on Aug. 22 within the northwest section of Manville Borough, specifically the areas of North 3rd Avenue and North 13th Avenue, between Knopf Street and Dukes Parkway, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Manville Police Department are conducting interviews and working to recover video surveillance footage of this most recent incident.

The suspect is described as a white man, wearing a dark-colored hooded jacket, Robertson reported.

This is the third time this has happened in the borough. Previously 35 cars were slashed overnight on Aug. 2 on Green and Bleecher streets between North 13th Avenue and North 9th Avenue, Manville Police Chief Mark Peltack said previously.

On June 11, 40 cars were also targeted in the north side of town where the tires were slashed and one was found burned.

The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office got involved in the investigation on July 25 releasing a surveillance video of the alleged suspect (see below).
