The Hillsborough Township Truck crashed through a guardrail and stopped just feet before plunging into the Raritan River.
MANVILLE, NJ — A Hillsborough Township truck crashed through a guardrail and almost ended up in the Raritan River on Tuesday morning in Manville, police said.
On Aug. 6 at around 11:21 a.m., an empty 2013 Hillsborough Township Department of Public Works Tandem Roll Off Truck was driving west on Dukes Parkway when it crashed through a guardrail at the North 6th Avenue curve. It was able to stop just several feet before plunging into the Raritan River, Manville Police Lt. John Crater said.
A small fluid leak that went into the Raritan River was contained with absorbents and will be monitored through the next several weeks by Somerset County Department of Health, Crater said.
