Spring Spruce-Up for Berc's Art Gallery
Maplewood gallery redecorates, adding handpainted front door; shop now takes commissions for handpainted doors and furniture.
Â
Artist Berc Ketchian, whose evocative, figurative oils have been exhibited in more than 20 galleries worldwide, recently did a little spring redecorating in his eponymously named Berc's Fine Art Studio on Maplewood Avenue.
After his former co-tenant Krista Hyer, , Ketchian decided to do a little reorganizing. In addition, the artist took a paintbrush to the front door.

The result is an intricately handpainted, vibrantly hued work done -- on both sides -- in the primitive style. Ketchian has been teaching this painting style, which he said is popular in the Tyrolean mountains in the winter.
When asked how long the project took, he said, "You don't want to know!"

Ketchian is currently taking commissions to handpaint doors and/or furniture for customers, he said. For example, he could paint a kitchen door for someone remodeling. He has two trained assistants who can help with projects, which can be done in the shop or on-site.
For information, call Ketchian at 973-378-7883 or stop by the gallery, located at 187 Maplewood Avenue two doors down from The Able Baker.
