Iron Jawed Angels is a 2004 American film directed by Katja von Garnier and starring Hilary Swank, Frances O'Connor, Julia Ormond, and Anjelica Huston. It focuses on the American women's suffrage movement during the 1910s. The film received acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival.Â
The event was the culmination of a month of learning about the work of the suffragettes. Faculty members wore purple ribbons (the color of the suffragettes) with the names of a self-chosen important woman in history. Also, CHS's "Diversity Rocks" student club hung up suffragette posters and distributed purple triangles to be worn by students and staff.
