Columbia High Science Teacher Passes Away: Chandler Dennis

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A veteran teacher in the South Orange-Maplewood Public School District has passed away.

Chandler Dennis, a science teacher at Columbia High School in Maplewood, was in his 24th year with the district, the South Orange-Maplewood Education Association (SOMEA) stated Tuesday.

The SOMEA posted the following message about Dennis on social media:

“We are very saddened by the passing of CHS science teacher, Mr. Chandler Dennis. Chandler was in his 24th year with SOMSD. Chandler was a dedicated SOMEA member, serving as Head Rep for a number of years and working with SOMEA in many capacities. He will be missed. Details about arrangements will be posted when they become available.”
