They remembered David Kimowitz as the guy who gave them a career, or continued it.

Kimowitz, who died in a Maplwood double murder this weekend, co-owned a New York City comedy club called the The Stand.

The club recently just announced a new location near Union Square Park, and comedians took to the Internet to praise not only the club, but David, in video after video on YouTube.

Now David, 40, is gone. And many comedians took to Twitter and social media to remember the man they called a "great guy" and a "great friend," over and over, because he gave them a place to work.

The boyfriend of an au pair who was killed along with her boss – Kimowitz – was arrested in a double homicide that shocked Maplewood this weekend, authorities said.

Joseph Porter, 27, of Elizabeth was charged with two counts of murder, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and criminal restraint, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

Porter was charged in connection with the killing of Karen L. Bermudez-Rodriguez, 26, of Maplewood, who was transported to Beth Israel Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 7:17 a.m. on Saturday. Porter had been in a dating relationship with Bermudez-Rodriguez, according to the Essex County Sheriff’s Office.

Kimowitz was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly of the Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Surburban Funeral Chapel at 68 Old Short Hills Road in Livingston
