This year, judges will include three prominent art critics: Ann Schaffer, Tara O'Leary, and Jim Oliver. Oliver is currently the director of Mary Boone gallery, an advisor to private collectors, and has personally supervised the installation of over 500 exhibitions. Schaffer serves on committees and boards for some of the most prestigious arts organizations including the Photography and Art Selection Committee of the Guggenheim Museum, and Officer of the Contemporary Arts Council of the Museum of Modern Art. O’Leary trained as an artist at the School of Visual Arts in NYC and currently shows and sells her work both locally and nationally.

Cash prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Best professional artist, best amateur artist, and a second prize gift certificate will be awarded in each category.

At least a dozen arts and cultural organizations will participate in the Art Walk, alongside many cafes and restaurants. Live performances will be scheduled throughout the event and a schedule will be posted later in the year.

"This community is alive with artists from many disciplines," Julie Doran, director of the Maplewood Village Alliance in a press release. "The town has a strong arts community that works together to ensure that a wide variety of artistic skills are showcased properly. This day combines the best of the arts and business communities in the area."

The submission deadline is June 10 and requires a $45 application fee. For all requirements and details please visit the webpage on the MVA website.
