Tree Limb Crashes Through Sommer Ave. Roof

House was damaged but no one was injured.

A large tree limb fell on a house on Sommer Avenue Friday afternoon, causing considerable damage to the home but no injuries to its residents, Maplewood Fire Chief Michael Dingelstedt said.

The limb knocked out a portion of the chimney into a second-floor bedroom and also damaged the roof and a lower porch, Dingelsgtedt said. No one was home at the time of the incident, he said.

Fire crews temporarily turned off the electric and gas service to the home as a precaution, and the Township Construction Official inspected the home to make sure it was habitable, Dingelstedt said.
