Election Results Official For Maplewood Committee, School Board
On Friday, the Essex County clerk confirmed the totals for Maplewood Committee and for South Orange-Maplewood school board.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Essex County Clerk Chris Durkin confirmed Friday that election results on the county website — which changed a few times after Nov. 3 as more mail-in ballots were counted — were official as of Friday.
For the unopposed race for two Maplewood Town Committee seats, the final numbers were:
- Victor De Luca, 13,076
- Dean Dafis, 12,960
Both are incumbents.

In Maplewood's form of government, candidates run for Township Committee, and are elected by the public. Then, the committee members choose a mayor and deputy mayor each year from among themselves. See more about that race here.
In the contested race for three South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education seats, the final totals are:

- Susan Lewis Bergin, 11,321
- Courtney Winkfield, 11,085
- Elissa Malespina, 8,713
- Deborah Engel, 8,437
- Melanie Finnern, 6,115
And for an unexpired one-year term:
- Kamal Zubieta, 12,328
Biden vs. Trump
How did the presidential candidates do countywide?
In Essex County, 77.3 percent of the votes totaled by Friday were for former Vice President Joe Biden, or 266,820 votes. For President Donald Trump, 75,475 votes were cast, or 22 percent.
Libertarian Jo Jorgensen amassed 1,296 votes, Howie Hawkins of the Green party drew 978, and other third party candidates and write-ins drew about 700 votes.
