Going by "TheCannaBossLady," a South Orange woman sells cannabis-based wellness products online. Now she's got a storefront.
MAPLEWOOD, NJ — New Jersey Native Jill Cohen has sold her cannabis-based beauty and wellness products online as "TheCannaBossLady" for some time. Friday, she will open a storefront in Maplewood, which she says is one of the first female-owned cannabis businesses in the region.
Cohen has sold everything from edibles to hair care, skin care, and spirituality, intimacy, and wellness products.

"When I was looking for a location, I knew that I wanted to be in Essex County because I live in South Orange," she said Thursday. "Being that I am a huge supporter of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ Communities, Maplewood was the obvious choice. The village vibe provides the best backdrop for my boutique to educate the community on premiere CBD products."
Cohen has used her platform "to help people make informed decisions about hemp and CBD products, while creating a community of empowered women in the cannabis space," says a release.

Cohen hand-selects every product sold and produced through TheCannaBossLady.com from women-owned companies that have been in business for at least five years.
The store is not a dispensary for marijuana; rather, it sells products from the cannabis plant that don't contain large quantities of the psychotropic Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC.
CBD is short for cannabidiol, which is among the compounds found in the cannabis plant. While CBD does not get a person "high," it is said to have health benefits.
Hemp is among the varieties of the cannabis plant that contain .3 percent or less of Tetrahydrocannabinol. CBD comes from those varieties.
To ensure quality, most of Cohen's products featured are organic and made using all-natural CO2 extraction methods.
"Many people are looking for healthier alternatives or natural solutions to de-stress, enhance sleep, replenish skin, support healthy sensuality, and help people live their best lives," said Cohen. "We have tested, evaluated, and curated a collection of the best cannabis products so that our clients don’t have to. Since we did extensive research and testing on each product, we are able to confidently advise on best practices for dosage and consumption.”
Brands featured include Tribe Beauty, Potency no710, Foria, and other prominent brands. Furthermore, canna-curious shoppers can learn from TheCannaBossLady’s educational information, which includes topics about the endocannabinoid system and CBD levels.
Looking to make a deeper impact, TheCannaBossLady will donate a portion of all proceeds to two women-focused nonprofits, said a release.
The first, Dressember, funds vital anti-trafficking work worldwide, and the second, Supernova Woman, is a women of color led non-profit organization with a mission to empower people of color to become self-sufficient shareholders in the cannabis industry.
