Guinness Cakes, Corned Beef and More for St. Patrick's Day in Maplewood

Looking to add a little luck o' the Irish to your life on St. Patrick's Day? Sunday, March 17 is the big day, but Maplewood shops and restaurants are already getting on the green for lads and lassies.
From baked goods to bagpipers and many things in between, here is a shortlist of what's on tap (that would be Guinness, of course). Let us know what we've missed.

Gigi's Cupcakes is offering Guinness Stout Cupcakes with a Bailey's Irish Cream Frosting (mini cupcakes, $18/dozen). "We are also offering edible shamrock decorations for an additional $6 per dozen," said owner Gigi Gallodoro.

Over at The Able Baker, Julie Pauly and her baking leprachauns are busy preparing Guinness Cakes (we sense a theme): a moist cake made with dark chocolate and cocoa, a touch of stout and glazed with chocolate. ($20)Â
There are also Irish Soda Bread scones, Bailey's frosted cupcakes and hand-decorated sugar cookies. (The Basket o' Irish, with nine shamrocks, pots o'gold and a rainbow is $17. Large decorated cookies, $3.50.)

On Saturday and Sunday, St. James's Gate will open at 8 a.m. with live Irish music from 1-4 p.m. on both days, and bagpipers coming in and out throughout the day.Â

Bring the famliy to Highland Place/Crane's for Irish brunch (English breakfast, eggs benedict, Irish oatmeal and more) and Irish burgers, Corned beef two ways, Cottage Pie, Lamb Stew and more. Brunch, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.; other items served from noon until the kitchen closes.
