Hit-And-Run In Maplewood; Police Probe Irvington Woman’s Death

Police are investigating a pedestrian hit-and-run in Maplewood that claimed the life of a 29-year-old woman from Irvington.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Police are investigating a pedestrian hit-and-run in Maplewood that claimed the life of a 29-year-old woman from Irvington on Monday.

Sometime during the early morning hours, a vehicle struck Johanne L. Barthelemy in the area of 1016 Chancellor Avenue as she stood outside her Nissan Murano, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Maplewood Police Department.

Barthelemy was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:49 a.m., authorities said.

The driver didn’t stop, authorities said. No arrests have been made as of Monday.
