Knife-Wielding Man Tried to Rob 7-Eleven, Police Say
Maplewood man charged with robbery and weapon possession.

Police arrested a Maplewood man who allegedly attempted to rob a 7-Eleven on May 16, said Capt. John Perna of the Maplewood Police Department.
Bryan Slade, 29, was charged with robbery and weapons possession, Perna said.
Officer Connie Fields was on patrol in the early morning of May 16 when she was flagged down by a clerk in front of the 7-Eleven at 1712 Springfield Ave., Perna said. The clerk told Fields a man was attempting to rob him with a knife, Perna said.

Fields saw Slade running from the store and chased him, catching him in DeHart Park, Perna said. The weapon, a kitchen knife, also was recovered.
