Maplewood Dickens Village 2018 Guide

Annual event offers multiple opportunities to see Santa, hear music and take horse and wagon rides.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Have a Dickensian experience without being visited by spirits or living as an urchin as Ricalton Square transforms into Dickens Village for three Saturdays this December.

Dickens Village includes refreshments, children’s activities, horse-drawn carriage rides, carolers and concerts.

Saturday, Dec. 1

  • 1 p.m. Santa arrives escorted by the Maplewood Fire Department
  • 1 to 4 p.m. Dickens Village Houses open for viewing
  • 1 to 4 p.m. Visit with Santa
  • 2 p.m. Choral Presentation by Jefferson School students
  • 3:15 p.m. Choral Presentation by Jefferson School students
  • 4 p.m. Story Hour Readings by Amalia E.B. Daniels, Senior Children's Librarian
  • 4:30 p.m. Tree lighting program featuring The Christmas Carol by Township Committeeperson Dean Dafis and a traditional Holiday reading by Mayor Vic DeLuca

  • 6:15 p.m. Ricalton Square

Saturday, Dec. 8

  • 8 a.m. Breakfast with Santa at Cedar Ridge Cafe
  • 9:30 a.m. Breakfast with Santa at St. James Gate and the Village Trattoria
  • 1 to 4 p.m. Visit with Santa
  • 1 to 4 p.m. Dickens Village Houses open for viewing
  • 1 to 4 p.m. Horse and Wagon rides
  • 1:30-3:30 p.m. Jack's Petting Farm
  • 2 to 2:45 p.m. Holiday reading for children at Words Bookstore

Saturday, Dec. 15

  • 1 to 4 p.m. Dickens Village Houses open for viewing
  • 1 to 4 p.m. Visit with Santa
  • 1 to 4 p.m. Horse and Wagon rides
  • 1:30-3:30 p.m. Jack's Petting Farm
  • 2 p.m. Swing Town's Annual Holiday Concert - Burgdorff Center
  • 2 to 2 p.m. Craft and Story Program for children of all ages at Maplewood Memorial Library, Baker Street
