Maplewood, South Orange To Remember Victims Of COVID-19 Tuesday

Church bells and sirens will go off at 5:30 and residents can turn on porch lights or safely light candles.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — On Tuesday evening, Maplewood will join communities throughout the country in the National Tribute to COVID-19 victims.

"At 5:30 p.m. tonight (Tuesday, Jan. 19)," according to an email sent out Tuesday, "the communities of South Orange and Maplewood will join the incoming Biden-Harris administration in participating in a Nationwide Covid-19 Memorial service to honor those we have lost to Covid-19, reflect on what has been one of the more challenging periods in the nation’s history, and renew our commitment to coming together to end the pandemic and rebuild our nation."

"Please be advised bells from our houses of worship and Seton Hall University along with public safety sirens will commence at 5:30 p.m. sharp for approximately 1 minute. Please do not be alarmed.
