Maplewood Tenants And Landlords Affected By COVID Can Seek Grant

Essex County opened applications this past Thursday on a first-come, first-served basis to those who need help with rent or utilities.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Essex County began accepting applications Thursday for its 2021 Emergency Rental Assistance Program grants. Renters or their landlords who were negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic may apply; landlords would be applying on behalf of tenants.

Those awarded a grant can use the grant money for rent or utility bills. County offices will request information from applicants including income and a copy of their lease.

Awards will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis, officials said.
