Maplewoodstock 2018: Music/Art Festival Returns To Essex County

One of the grooviest music and art festivals in Essex County is returning for the summer of 2018: Maplewoodstock.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — One of the grooviest music and art festivals in Essex County is returning for the summer of 2018: Maplewoodstock.

The all-volunteer, two-day festival at Memorial Park in Maplewood features local music and arts performances and displays, including an array of food vendors and a KidsZone. Each day typically kicks off about noon and ends around 9 p.m.

For 2018, the festival will take place on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15. (See event info and a schedule of music here)

This year, Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band will headline the festival on Sunday night. Reggae band Third World will host Saturday night. Danielia Cotton is featured on Saturday evening and The Suffers are featured on Sunday evening.

Festival organizers are advising visitors that the township plans to enforce a municipal ordinance that prohibits tents in the park overnight and use of the park before 5 a.m. every day. (See the full policy here)

Last week, organizers shared an additional tip for people planning to attend the annual shindig:

“We have shifted Arts Vendors downhill towards the library to open up more top-of-the-hill space for attendees. But, please be aware: if you arrive at "peak hours" (e.g., 5 to 6 p.m.) with blankets and lawn chairs expecting to find space on the hill, you will probably find the hill at capacity, and you will probably be directed to find space in adjacent fields so that we don't have an unsafe, over-crowded situation.”
