Maplewood And Nearby Towns Host Martin Luther King Events
There are volunteer events and educational opportunities in Maplewood and surrounding towns in Essex and Union counties.
MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Martin Luther King Day has been designated a national day of service, and several local towns have events to help create supply kits for the homeless and needy. Other towns are hosting educational and artistic events about Martin Luther King and race relations.
Here is a list of events in Essex County, including two involving art/dance and kids: one listed for Maplewood and one for Maplewood-South Orange.
There are also service events in Union County. A group in Westfield will package kits for homeless residents throughout the area. And First Presbyterian Church of Cranford has invited community members of all ages to participate in their service fair to assist with assembling packages and other projects for homeless youth, the elderly, and veterans.
