MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Polls closed in Maplewood at 8 p.m. for the New Jersey Primary Election races to determine which candidates would get the Democratic and Republican nominations to vie for two seats on the Maplewood Township Committee in November.

Because two Democratic candidates ran unopposed to get the nod, the nominations were a foregone conclusion. However, political observers sometimes look to the vote tabulations to determine how much support candidates have early in the race.

No Republicans ran for the nomination for the two seats.
