Program Registration for Second Session Fall Classes at South Mountain YMCA Happening Now

Courses will take place Oct. 27 to Dec. 21.

Online registration for fall courses beginning the week of Oct. 27 at the South Mountain YMCA is happening now.

Parents may register their little one by following this link to the online registration page or by phoning 973-762-4145. The pre-school age program can be found here and the school-age program may be found here.

The YMCA is offering five new courses for children and young adults this time around, including:

  • Fun with Fables (3 to 5 years of age): Children will get the chance to express themselves and learn about the art of storytelling by acting out favorites by Aesop, Brothers Grimm and Mother Goose. The course is every Monday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
  • Puppet Play (3 to 5 years of age): Children will get to create their own puppets and tell their own stories while performing with their friends. The course takes place every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
  • Construction Craze (3 to 5 years of age): Children who enjoy building will love this course that will allow them to build their own structures with Legos, wood and other materials. Children will sand, glue and paint a wood project. The course is every Friday from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
  • Tappity-Hio-Hoppity Dance (3 to 5 years of age): Children will learn how to move with the beat with classic and modern tunes. The course takes place every Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
  • Funky Fitness (9 to 13 years of age): Children and pre-teens will get the chance to up their chess skills and practice the art of strategy with their parents. The course will look at basic chess play, piece movements and strategies. It will take place every Friday from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

All classes are once a week and will conclude Dec. 21.
