Superstorm Sandy Impacted 900 Businesses in Maplewood

A recent statewide study shows residents and businesses impacted with property damage.

 

Superstorm Sandy inflicted damage on 900 businesses and 22 residences in Maplewood, according to a recent analysis of New Jersey Department of Community Affairs data by NJSpotlight.com. 

Out of a total 22 homes damaged, 21 suffered major damage, defined as costing between $8,000 to $28,800. One home incurred damage under $8,000.

Throughout Maplewood, only three rental units were damaged. 

Statewide, nearly 87,000 housing units were damaged. About 12,500 of those sustained major damage or were destroyed.
