Track and Field: Caldwell University Runners Set Speed Records

Record-setting performances set by residents from Maplewood and Bloomfield.

The Caldwell University women’s track and field team recently had two performances make the Division II East Region top eight lists, according to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

According to a release, the 4x400 meter relay team of senior Victoria dos Santos (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia), junior Taylor Landis (Middletown, NJ/Middletown South) and freshmen Victoria Thaler (Millville, NJ/Millville) and Christina Campos (Bloomfield, NJ/Mother Seton) placed third at the Coach P Invitational with a time of 4:11.02, the region’s seventh fastest time this season.

The mark is a new school record, stated the release.

In addition, sophomore sprinter Courtney Macaluso (Hopatcong, NJ/Hopatcong) posted a time that ranks in the top eight in the region through Apr. 13.

Macaluso has won the 100 meters at both of her meets so far this season. She set the school record with a time of 12.41 seconds in winning the Oscar Moore Open at Rowan University on Apr. 1. She then posted a time of 12.38 seconds in the prelims at the Coach P Invitational, held at Moravian College on Apr. 11. Her time is the fifth-fastest time in the East Region so far this season. Macaluso went on to win the finals at the Coach P Invitational with a time of 12.40, stated the release.
