What do you think should move into this four-acre site?

In an occasional column, we present a vacant space and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use. Let's call this a digital spin on community planning -- Patch's version of a charette, a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table.

The PSE&G Building on the corner of Springfield Avenue and Boyden Avenue has been vacant since about a year ago, when PSE&G vacated the four-acre site and relocated about 100 employees in the testing lab to another property in South Plainfield.

The PSE&G site is the third largest ratable in town, paying $328,465 in taxes in 2011 (only Winchester Gardens and the Maplewood Country Club pay more).

So this is where you come in, Maplewood. What would you like to see in that four acre space? A supermarket? A community center? An office building: Home Depot?

Forget any zoning rules and regulations, for now. If you had your way, what would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community?
