Over the past decades, dozens of professional athletes have called Essex County home.
The list of current and former residents includes:
- Yogi Berra, the iconic baseball personality, lived for 40 years in a six-bedroom home on Highland Avenue in Montclair. [See photos here]
- Martin Brodeur, the 10-time National Hockey League all-star and three-time Stanley Cup winning goaltender, owned a three-bedroom West Orange townhouse on Baxter Lane. [See photos here]
- NJ Devils center Travis Zajac recently put his Millburn home on Elsway Road up for sale for $2.19 million. [See photos here]
- Lonnie Wright, who played for the Denver Broncos and Nuggets (Rockets), lived in South Orange.
- David Diehl, the two-time Super Bowl champion and former New York Giants offensive lineman, lives in West Orange.
- Larry Doby, the former Cleveland Indians star who broke the American League’s color barrier, lived in Montclair.
