UPDATE: Suspect Arrested In Apparent Homicide Of Maplewood Woman
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office said they have arrested Ben Avrut, 35, in the killing of his mother in Maplewood Tuesday.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The Essex County Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday that they have arrested a suspect in the death of a woman yesterday in the Top condos in Maplewood.

A news report yesterday quoted sources as saying the woman was shot on Monday by someone who then fled.

A spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office confirmed for Patch on Monday afternoon that the office has responded to the scene, but could not share any other details yet.
Later in the day, NJ.com and NorthJersey.com quoted the Prosecutor's Office as confirming the death was a homicide — but the office still declined to release details. Prosecutor's Office spokeswoman Katherine Carter said no one had been arrested as of then.

The TAPInto story said, "The event was called into MPD just after 1:30 p.m. and it was reported that the suspect ... was headed eastbound, driving a gray 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300." See that story here.
