Woman Robbed and Punched by Armed Men, Cops Say
Woman had her purse stolen at gunpoint, according to Maplewood Police

A 43-year-old Newark woman walking in the area of Irvington Avenue and Norman Road early Friday morning was robbed of her purse and punched by two men who had a handgun, said Sgt. Christopher Black of the Maplewood Police Department.
The woman was walking at 4:15 a.m. when the men exited a black SUV and ran up to her; one man demanded her purse, Black said. When she refused, the man punched her, brandished a handgun and took the purse from her, said Black.

The men then returned to their car and fled west on Irvington Avenue, said Black. The woman refused medical attention.
No further information or description of the men was released. The incident is currently under investigation by the Detective Bureau.
