The former Glenwood Institute on Church Street in Matawan is on the market.

A condominium in the former Glenwood Institute on Church Street in Matawan is on the market for $169,000, according to Realtor.com.

The historic Glenwood Institute was a private, co-educational school that had its origins in 1834 as Middletown Point Academy, according to a plaque outside of the building. In 1859, Garrett Hobart, who later became the 24th Vice President of the United States, attended the school. The school went on to become a military academy and was closed in 1915. It has since been converted into residential units. 

The two-story condo has two bedrooms, one full bathroom, spacious rooms, nine-foot ceilings, decorative moldings and a basement, according to the listing.
