1st Annual Mike Dessino Golf Outing 2021
Golf outing held to honor Middlesex High School Wrestling Legend to fund scholarship in his name.
The Dessino Family and the Middlesex/Dunellen Blue Jay Wrestling Club are starting the 1st Annual Mike Dessino Golf Outing!
We lost Mike last May to a car accident. Now that things are opening up, we can now honor Mike with a golf outing to support the scholarship fund created in his honor.
The golf outing is on Wednesday, August 25th at Bunker Hill Golf Course in Princeton, 220 Bunker Hill Rd, Princeton, NJ. Check-in is at 8:00am with a 9:00am shotgun start and scramble play. Golfers can participate for $150 per player. Lunch will be served and prizes.

We are looking for sponsors to help put this event together and remember a Middlesex Wrestling legend. Mike was the epitome of what Middlesex wrestling is, what it stands for, and what younger wrestlers should try to emulate. Please don’t miss out on this special event!
If you’re looking for a role model, the type of person to put on a poster, look no further than Mike Dessino. “Mike is what Middlesex is supposed to represent,” Middlesex-Dunellen High School wrestling coach Ryan Boyd said. “You know, toughness, just good values, what younger wrestlers always look up to and what our wrestlers strive to be. Someone that’s tough, wrestles hard and strives to be better and constantly improves. We’re going to remember him for years to come.”

“The family means a lot to the community and certainly Michael had lots of friends. He was a very special part of our wrestling program.” Middlesex athletic Director Mike O'Donnell said.
Dessino graduated in 2009 as the Blue Jays’ all-time winningest wrestler with a 145-22 record and 98 pins. His successes include capturing three district titles and placing twice in the state tournament (fourth at 160 in 2009 and eighth at 152 in 2007). Next up was a memorable career at NCAA Division I Bloomsburg, in which he went 105-43 and qualified for three NCAA Tournaments. In 2011, he won the Eastern Wrestling League title at 174. He returned as an assistant coach for Middlesex-Dunellen from 2014-15 and 2015-16. Middlesex intended to honor Dessino on a larger scale before the pandemic put a halt to the plans. In the future, the Blue Jays hope to create a wrestling tournament in his name and possibly have a golf outing.
