Middlesex Boro Man In 3-Hour Standoff With Police

Police say Robert Lujan, 40, led police on a three-hour standoff at his Mountain Avenue home in Middlesex boro Tuesday night.

MIDDLESEX BOROUGH, NJ — A Middlesex borough man led police on a standoff at his Mountain Avenue home Tuesday night, and was arrested after he surrendered to police after three hours, according to the Middlesex County prosecutor.

Robert Lujan, 40, of Middlesex borough, has been charged with one count of false public alarm in the second degree, one count of misuse of a 911 call in the fourth degree and one count of criminal mischief in the fourth degree.

The incident started at 5:21 p.m. Tuesday after police received a 911 call to Lujan's home.

The Middlesex County Special Operations Response Team was called in (the newest term for a SWAT team). Police would not reveal any further details about what happened, but only would call the three-hour stand off a "potentially dangerous situation."

Lujan surrendered at 8:41 p.m. following negotiations with the special ops team. He did not have a weapon. Nobody was injured.
