On Thursday, March 5th, Parker Elementary School's Read-Across-America week-long celebration included a visit from a very special guest: the Cat in the Hat! Parker School was selected to receive a visit from the Cat through the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA). Kindergarteners through third grade students were thrilled to meet one of their favorite characters!
Mrs. Laura Albanese and Ms. Susan Meth read The Cat in the Hat, while the Cat acted out all the parts. Thing 1 (Ms. Dana Barros) and Thing 2 (Mrs. Leah Pastewski) got in on the act, too! Principal Dr. Remi Christofferson danced with the Cat and all the classes posed for pictures.
Before the Cat's visit, the entire school participated in the annual Parker Word Parade. This very special event gives the entire student body the opportunity to "wear" a word and share it with the rest of the school by parading across the stage!

Throughout the week students participated in a variety of activities that support reading. The week's festivities kicked off with "Hats off to Dr. Seuss" and culminated with a delightful performance by the Middlesex High School cast of Seussical, under the direction of Mrs. Sally Siegrist.
Read-Across- America is a super fun week of activities that support reading and Parker Elementary looks forward to it every year!
