Residents of The Bristal at Somerset Celebrate Their 61st Wedding Anniversary

Rita and Irwin Wistreich residents of The Bristal at Somerset celebrated their 61st Anniversary.

Longtime residents of Somerset, the Wistreich’s who both grew up in Brooklyn, moved to The Bristal at Somerset in July of 2020.

According to Rita, now 82, they met at Irwin’s sister’s wedding. “He didn’t let me dance with anyone else that night” Irwin says he told his best friend, “I met the girl I am going to marry”.

Irwin, who is now 86, asked Rita to marry him after a New Year’s Eve dance. They were married on May 29, 1960. They have two children, Adrienne and Michael. They also have four grandchildren.

Rita and Irwin enjoy traveling and playing tennis. Their advice to the younger generations is, “say nice things, be patient, think before you speak, and remember why you got married in the first place”.
