Suspect Runs From Cops Onto Middlesex Boro Middle School Grounds

MIDDLESEX BOROUGH, NJ — A suspect pulled over by police in a traffic stop Thursday ran out of his car and away from police, running onto the grounds of Von E. Mauger Middle School in Middlesex borough.

That prompted the middle school to be placed in lockdown for thirty minutes Thursday afternoon as police searched the area for the subject. Police located him and chased him off school property, but he ran away and remains at large.

The incident started at 1:37 p.m., when he fled on foot from a motor vehicle stop on Union Avenue and entered onto the property of the middle school. The middle school, and nearby Watchung Elementary School, remained sheltered in place as police searched the area with assistance from Warren Township Police Department’s Canine Unit and The New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit.

Dismissal at the middle school and the elementary school was delayed for an additional forty-five minutes due to the police activity. The subject was not apprehended and remains at large.
