Best NJ Places To Wake Up To ... And Eat Breakfast, New Lists Say

The Daily Meal provided what it considers the best places to grab an egg – maybe after getting a good night's sleep.

This is not a guide for those who just want the continental breakfast at the hotel. This is for the people looking for the cozy cottage that just happens to serve bacon and eggs. Or they're looking for the best place that serves Jersey-sized pancakes that are 10 inches in diameter.

The Daily Meal, a popular food website, has provided what it considers the best bed-and-breakfasts in America for 2018, and two in New Jersey made the list. The publication also provided what it considers the best place in New Jersey to eat breakfast.

At least one of these places offers multigrain buttermilk pancakes topped with cinnamon and fresh fruit, Louisiana Benedict with spicy chorizo, chicken and waffles, and brioche French toast stuffed with peanut butter and spiced bananas.

Or they may serve breakfast, but they also provide the perfect "last-minute romantic stay or for a family beach trip, with multiple specials offering gifts like restaurant gift cards, spa passes, and complimentary champagne, beach and pool access, or bicycle rentals."

The best restaurant for breakfast in New Jersey: Tops Diner

Tops Diner, which has been open since the 1920s, serves a breakfast menu that keeps regulars coming back again and again. "All the expected diner classics are on offer here, expertly prepared — omelettes, pancakes, ham and eggs, French toast, house-made corned beef hash and eggs, Monte Cristo, waffles — but everything’s been elevated to historic levels of greatness," according to the site.

Eggs are local and cage-free, and standouts include "Eggs From Heaven" – which is three eggs baked with cheesy grits in a spicy tomato jambalaya sauce with chorizo and toast – as well as the multigrain buttermilk pancakes topped with cinnamon and fresh fruit. Read more here...

Chateau Inn and Suites, Spring Lake

Chateau Inn and Suites, guests have a "comfortable place to stay in the seaside Jersey Shore village of Spring Lake with their pick of 36 guest rooms and one-bedroom suites, many of which offer Jacuzzis, wood-burning fireplaces, patios, sundecks, or balconies." The place, the website says, is perfect for a last-minute romantic stay or for a family beach trip, with "multiple specials offering gifts like restaurant gift cards, spa passes, and complimentary champagne, beach and pool access, or bicycle rentals."

The Mission Inn, Cape May

The Mission Inn, built in 1912, has eight rooms each with a different theme, corresponding to one of the California missions, but all feature modern amenities. "Borrow a bike to head over to the nearby beach, where the Inn will even have people come and set up chairs and an umbrella for you. Your luxury doesn’t end when you’re off the property!"
