Crash Currently Closing New Monmouth Rd. At 35 In Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Avoid New Monmouth Road and Hwy. 35 as of 1:57 p.m. Thursday due to an active crash, Middletown Police just announced.

Middletown Police advise locals to avoid the area by New Monmoth Road and Highway 35 due to an active crash scene investigation.

While it's too early to know how bad this crash is, this would be the second serious car accident to happen in Middletown this week: At 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a pick-up truck collided with a motorcycle at the intersection of Thompson and Center avenues in Leonardo.

Garrett Dlin, 30, of Matawan, was driving the motorcycle. He sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

A 31-year-old Middletown woman was on the back of his bike and she was critically injured, enough so that she had to be rushed by State Police medical helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where she is in stable condition.
