Hazardous Weather Outlook For Snow In NJ On Monday, Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook in New Jersey for snow that could lead to school closures or delayed openings on Tuesday morning.

The NWS says snowfall accumulations are currently forecast to be minor, though the weather could be significant enough to impact your commute. "There is still considerable uncertainty, so please continue to follow the latest updates," the NWS says in its alert.

The snow was initially expected to hit just the very northern areas of New Jersey, but AccuWeather now says the whole state should expect some impact after 5 p.m. on Monday night.
And now and the risk of slippery travel in the Northeast next week may not end with the storm early on, according to AccuWeather.

Following another surge of warm air during the middle part of the week, cold air will advance, and another swath of rain will break out late in the week, AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Brett Anderson said in the release.

Here is the forecast:
- Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55. Southwest wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
- Saturday night: Rain, mainly after midnight. Low around 43. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
- Sunday: Rain, mainly before 10am. High near 53. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
- Sunday night: A slight chance of rain before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Northeast wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
- Monday: A slight chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Northeast wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
- Monday night: A slight chance of rain and snow showers before 10pm, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
- Tuesday: A chance of snow before 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 17.
- Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34.
- Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26.
- Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 46.
- Thursday night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
- Friday: Rain and snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 43. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
