Learn What Lays Beneath Old First Church In Middletown

A free lecture on an archaeological study of the 17th century property.

Monmouth University Professor Gerry Scharfenberger will be giving a talk on the archaeological excavation he conducted at the 17th-century Old First Church on King's Highway in Middletown.

The talk will be held Saturday, March 29 at 10 a.m. at the Middletown Arts Center, located at the Middletown Train Station lot at 36 Church Street in Middletown.  

The Old First Church housed the first Baptist congregation in New Jersey and was also notable for its use as a hospital by the British Army after the Battle of Monmouth.
