Here's How CBA's New Track & Field Complex Will Look
Christian Brothers Academy is making a 1.2 million-dollar investment in its championship track and field program.
LINCROFT, NJ — Christian Brothers' Academy, the boy's prep school in Lincroft, is in the midst of building an ambitious new track and field complex, named after the late Dr. George Sheehan.
Sheehan was a founder at Christian Brothers and played a significant role in developing the high school's championship running programs, for which CBA is widely known for up and down the Jersey Shore, and across the state.
This $1.2 million venue will feature an eight-lane track with a natural grass infield. The school says it will also have enhanced spectator seating and a new scoreboard and sound system.

The project will be paid for through the fundraising efforts of the Forever CBA capital campaign.
Sheehan was a cardiologist, a bestselling author and actually is credited with helping launch America's running-as-fitness trend, a movement that started in the 1960s. Sheehan was known for running intervals with CBA students around the Round Barn and ultimately completed several Boston marathons, clocking the world's first sub-five-minute mile by a 50-year-old.

There will be a campaign kickoff event Oct. 18 at CBA, and Jersey Shore running supporters Tim McLoone (of McLoone's restaurants) and Elliot Denman will be guest speakers. Denman competed in the 1965 Olympics in the 50K race-walking event.
