Jessica's Cafe Not Only Feeds Your Body But Your Soul

Sunshine fills the glass atrium, embellished with tropical palm trees, vibrant flowers and a flurry of energetic people giving off a palpable feel good vibe. The aroma of freshly baked breads fill the air, scrumptious homemade delicacies adorn the colorful tables at Jessica Garden Cafe. This cafe is not your typical eatery, Jessica’s Cafe is a very unique offering - a free of charge, brunch buffet, open to the public on Sundays where all are in invited to simply enjoy. The menu varies weekly, some items include, slow roasted turkey with gravy, seasonal vegetable frittata, garden lasagna, a variety of pasta dishes, Applewood smoked ham, fresh breads, muffins and more.

Jessica, a Filipino immigrant, born into poverty, has had many life struggles and endured unspeakable tragedies in her life, but despite all of her suffering she found peace and solace through God. She has made it her life’s mission to help others. With this belief Jessica’s Cafe was born.

Jessica and her husband Pastor Marti Mcgrail have been serving food to their community and its parishioners since it opened in 2000.

Pastor Marti who Jessica lovingly refers to him as “Mahal” (my dear) is the full time Pastor at New Life Christian Church, a non-denominational Christian church which is adjacent to Jessica’s Cafe. Pastor Marti has also dedicated his life to helping people through God. Together they work tirelessly sharing the love of God and to serve, not only here in NJ but all over the world, through mission trips, community service and social media. They helped the poor build wells for clean drinking water in remote places in Africa through Water for Life program . They are also proud sponsors of Samantha’s Fund which donates money to both St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospital for Children. They have a worldwide outreach through social media where the services are watched on Facebook in may different countries around the world. Cultivating a feel good, positive message that everyone can understand and relate to. Their message is simple: “God loves everyone! And it doesn’t matter who you are, who you think you are, who people say you are, or what you have done.”

“You can expect to be welcomed into a loving atmosphere that is joyful, light and very comfortable” says Jessica.

“I frequent Jessica’s Garden Cafe almost every Sunday. It’s a place where support is offered in faith and in life. I get opportunities to meet new like minded people. It is a place where all walks of life congregate and break bread as family and the food is delicious!” said Christine Card a parishioner at New Life Church.

New Life Church is a part of a designated group of champion churches endorsed by the famous Joel and Victoria Osteen. Jessica’s Cafe and New Life Church is located at 125 Bay Avenue in Highlands NJ.
