Learn How To Compost In Free Monmouth County Workshop

Monmouth County has fall 2017 Backyard Composting sessions scheduled at Deep Cut Gardens this Saturday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 18.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ – Monmouth County has fall 2017 Backyard Composting sessions scheduled at Deep Cut Gardens this coming Saturday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 18.

The free 45-minute sessions begin at 10 a.m. and will explain the how-tos of reducing your yard and household waste and improving your soil. Advance registration is required. To reserve one of the limited seats, call 732-683-8686, ext. 6721.

“Many residents want to do their part in preserving the environment, yet they struggle with how to reduce household waste,” said Freeholder Serena DiMaso, Esq., liaison to the County’s Reclamation Center. “The Backyard Composting program is helpful for those residents who are seeking guidance and provides not only direction, but also the opportunity to purchase a bin for composting at home.”

Participants may purchase an Earth Machine backyard composting bin at the session for $35. If you already compost and would like to purchase an Earth Machine backyard compost bin, you may do so for $35 at one of the five towns that have partnered with the County to expand composting opportunities for residents:

You should call first for availability and hours for pickup. Payment must be by check made payable to the “Monmouth County Grant Fund.”
