Leonardo Man, 60, Hit By Car And Killed On Rt. 36

MIDDLETOWN, NJ ? A pedestrian was hit by a car and killed Friday night in Middletown, confirmed Mayor Tony Perry.

The man was hit by the car on Rt. 36; this happened near the intersection of Broadway, said the mayor. He was struck by the car at 8:05 p.m.

The man is 60 and lived locally in the Leonardo section, the Asbury Park Press reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. No charges have been filed, NJ.com reported.

As of Monday morning, Perry said he was not at liberty to release the man's name until the man's family could be notified.
