Man Falls Off Boat, Dies In Sandy Hook Bay

A NJ man fell off his boat and was found dead in the water in Sandy Hook Bay, according to State Police.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A man fell off his boat and was found dead in the water Saturday afternoon in Sandy Hook Bay, according to New Jersey State Police.

The man has been identified by police as Scott Sabisch, 57, of Glenwood, in Vernon Twp., Sussex County.

At 2:53 p.m. Saturday, State Police's Marine Unit responded to a radio call of a man overboard from a 37-foot vessel in Sandy Hook Bay.

Police officers found the man unresponsive in the water, and he was pronounced deceased. This occurred near the Earle Naval Pier in the Leonardo section of Middletown, said Trooper Alejandro Goez of the State Police.

He was at the front of the boat when he went overboard, but what caused him to fall remains under investigation, said State Police.
