Middletown Boys Fall To Bayshore, Girls Softball Plays Wednesday

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — It was an excellent run.

Middletown 8/9-year-old boys' Little League lost to Bayshore Tuesday night, in a game that determined who won the District 19 championship.

“It was a good run and I'm proud of the boys. They left everything on the field!” said manager Vinny Verdiglione after Tuesday night's loss.

In a huge win, Middletown defeated the previously undefeated Bayshore Little League 7-5 last Friday; Tuesday night's game in Tinton Falls was the championship.

It was an excellent end-of-season run for these local boys.

However, spirits remain high for Middletown girls' softball!

Similar to the boys, the Middletown softball team (8-10-year-old girls) was supposed to have a championship game Tuesday night, but their's was rained out due to the thunderstorms.

Their game has been rescheduled to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 7. The game will be at the Marlboro Little League fields on Tennent Road for anyone in town who would like to come cheer the girls on!

The head coach for Middletown girls' 8-10 softball is Vinny Esposito.

Middletown boys' 12/13 baseball also play at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bodman Field 4 and boys' 10/11 play at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Tinton Falls Little League fields. Also, the Lincroft majors softball girls won the district and have now advanced to sectionals.
