Middletown To Honor Fallen Veterans
Middletown will hold dedication ceremonies this month to mark the installation of commemorative street signs honoring fallen veterans.

The Middletown Veterans Affairs Committee will hold two more dedication ceremonies this month to mark the installation of commemorative street signs honoring fallen veterans.
According to a news release from the township:
The ceremonies will be held Oct. 10 and Oct. 17. Families and friends of the fallen veterans, along with the public, are invited to attend the programs, which will include a color guard and the playing of taps.

The township is adding more than 50 signs around the community to honor fallen veterans from World War II to present.
The signs includes the names of the veterans, their branch of service, the names of the campaigns in which they served, American flags and gold stars representing the gold star mothers and families.

October 10:
Birch Street 10 a.m.
Named in memory of Thomas Birch who was killed in action during Vietnam. The road is located off Route 36 East in the Navesink section of town at Cottage Gate.
Feakes Drive 10:15 a.m.
Named in memory of Edward Feakes who was killed in action during Korea. The road at located off Birch Street in the same housing complex.
Papa Court 10:30 a.m.
Named in memory of Vernon Papa who was killed in action in World War II. The road is located off Birch Street in the same housing complex.
Beaman Boulevard 10:45 a.m.
Named in memory of George Beaman who was killed in action in World War II. The road is located off Route 36 in the Navesink section of town. It’s the entrance to Conifer Village Apartments.
Mouritzen Place 11:15 a.m.
Named in memory of Donald Mouritzen who was killed in action in Vietnam. To access the road take Nutswamp Road to Michael Drive to Mouritzen Place.
Rocky Memorial Parkway 11:45 a.m.
Named in memory of Robert Rocky who was killed in action in Vietnam. The road is located off West Front Street in the Lincroft section of town.
October 17:
Overton Drive 10 a.m.
Named in memory of James Overton who was killed in action in World War II. The road is located off Harmony Road behind Shop-Rite.
Hart Drive 10:15 a.m.
Named in memory of Marvin Hart who was killed in action in World War II. The road is located off Overton Drive in the same complex.
Chance Drive 10:30 a.m.
Named in memory of Walter Chance who was killed in action in World War II. The road is located off Hart Drive in the same complex.
Pate Drive 10:45 a.m.
Named in memory of Robert Pate who was killed in action in World War II. The road is located of Hart Drive in the same complex.
