Middletown Man Receives Health Insurance Industry Award
David Mordo's career advocating for employers over health insurance has taken him through the halls of Trenton and Washington, D.C.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — This June, David Mordo of Middletown was named the 2021 recipient of the New Jersey Association of Health Underwriters’ (NJAHU) Board of Directors award.
Mordo works as a compliance specialist at BenefitMall in Red Bank.
In his more than 40 years in the industry, Mordo has focused on consulting with brokers as well as small and large employers in the area of ERISA, HIPAA and PPACA and other employer issues concerning healthcare and health insurance. His advocacy on behalf of employers has taken him through the halls of Trenton and Washington, D.C. where he regularly speaks with state and federal legislators and regulators.

The New Jersey Association of Health Underwriters, a statewide organization, represents licensed health insurance agents, brokers, consultants and benefit professionals in New Jersey who service the health insurance needs of large and small employers as well as individuals.
As an active member of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) since 1999, Mordo has served as a chapter president and local and state legislative chair. Nationally, Mordo has served on NAHU’s Finance, Governance, LPRT and Media Relations Committees. He served on NAHU’s National Legislative Council from 2011 to 2017 and was NAHU’s National Legislative Chair in 2016. He recently became an instructor with NAHU's Online Learning Institute, teaching a few of the certification courses.

"To be the recipient of this award is indeed a humbling honor,” Mordo said. “More importantly, it should speak to the fact that broker and employee benefit specialists play a major role in the healthcare and health insurance arena. The members of NJAHU are of the highest caliber of professionals and I'm fortunate to walk and work amongst them."
He currently serves as a Regional Vice President for Region 2 of NAHU.
