Middletown Man Wins In Monmouth County Golf Tournament

A Middletown man was one of four winners out of one hundred golfers who participated in this summer's Monmouth County Course Championship.

COLTS NECK, NJ — A Middletown man was one of four winners out of one hundred golfers who participated in this summer's Monmouth County Course Championship, hosted by the Monmouth County Park System.

The championship winner was Marc Kellet of Jersey City.

Held over the course of the past two weekends, August 8 and 9 and 15 and 16, one hundred golfers took part in the tournament, which consisted of a 36-hole stroke qualifier, played over two days at Charleston Springs Golf Course in Millstone.

That was followed by two days of match play at Howell Park Golf Course in Farmingdale and Hominy Hill Golf Course in Colts Neck. Golfers were broken into four flights based on GHIN handicaps.

Championship Flight - Mac Kellet, Jersey City

A Flight - Ken Lemunyon, Freehold

B Flight - Jeff Timmons, Middletown

C Flight - Anthony Soscia, Holmdel

The Monmouth County Course Championship is one of several golf tournaments hosted by the Monmouth County Park System this year. Upcoming tournaments include Match Play Tournament on September 26 and 27 and the Jersey Devil Tournament on October 17. Both will be held at Charleston Springs Golf Course.

In addition to Charleston Springs Golf Course, other Park System courses are Bel-Aire, Wall; Hominy Hill, Colts Neck; Howell Park, Farmingdale; Pine Brook, Manalapan; and Shark River, Neptune.
